In Gospel of Mark 5:21–43, the stories of Jairus and the woman with the bleeding condition reveal the deep compassion and care in the heart of Jesus Christ for His children. These two stories are intertwined, showing that God’s love reaches people in very different situations yet with the same personal attention.

Jairus, a synagogue leader, approaches Jesus publicly and desperately. His twelve-year-old daughter is dying, and he falls at Jesus’ feet begging for help. Jesus immediately goes with him, showing that the fears and pain of a parent matter deeply to God.

On the way, a woman who has suffered from bleeding for twelve years quietly reaches through the crowd to touch Jesus’ cloak. According to the law, her condition made her ceremonially unclean, which meant years of isolation and rejection. Yet when she touches Jesus in faith, she is instantly healed. Instead of allowing her to remain hidden, Jesus stops and gently draws her forward. He calls her “daughter,” affirming her dignity and restoring her place in the community.

Meanwhile, news comes that Jairus’s daughter has died. Jesus responds with a simple but powerful encouragement: “Do not fear, only believe.” He then raises the girl to life, demonstrating His authority even over death.

Together, these moments reveal God’s heart: He sees the desperate, the forgotten, and the fearful, and He meets them with compassion, restoration, and life.
